Logical Reasoning Tests

Logical reasoning tests are designed to assess a candidate's ability to use logic to solve complex problems.

  • What is a logical reasoning test?

The logical reasoning test normally involves limited information that a candidate must use to complete a seemingly random pattern or sequence. Primarily using images or symbols rather than words or numbers, the logical reasoning test can be challenging for those who haven't encountered it before, or aren't adept at thinking logically.

  • Why do employers use logical reasoning tests?

In nearly every job, problem solving is a highly valued skill and the logical reasoning test examines how innate that skill is. As a result, the logical reasoning test is a common part of the recruitment process for a huge range of roles in many industries.

  • What is the format of a logical reasoning test?

As with most aptitude tests, candidates normally have around one minute to answer each question on the logical reasoning test. The questions will require a pattern or sequence to be completed by selecting the correct multiple choice answer. Candidates will have to use their logic to solve the problems quickly and accurately.

  • Which skills are tested on the logical reasoning test?

Logical thinking is the primary skill being tested, but the test will also show an individual's ability to keep calm under pressure and solve non-verbal and non-numerical problems.

      Are the tests difficult?

There are two different levels of test: foundation and advanced. The foundation tests can be set for a wide range of roles, but the advanced tests are normally used for the recruitment of management or senior positions.

How long does the logical reasoning test last?

The logical reasoning test usually takes around 15-20 minutes to complete, but within that time candidates will typically have to answer 15-20 questions. So it's important they find a balance between speed and accuracy.

Are these tests available in my plan?

Yes! Whichever plan you select, you'll be able to see the full range of test levels. The only difference between the plans is the amount of tests you're permitted to attempt.

Can I see what the test is like?

All you need to do is click the 'view example' button to get a preview of a test. You'll be able to see a mix of foundation and advanced level questions so you get a flavour of what candidates can expect on both tests.

“Focusing on data reduced the subjective decision making from our hiring process and allowed us to reduce bias and make better hiring decisions.”
