  • What are logical reasoning tests?

Logical reasoning tests assess how well a candidate is able to analyse a variety of logical information and use this information to establish missing concepts within a pattern or sequence. The images and symbols vary across questions and there are a variety of different activities that the candidate has been asked to undertake, but the underlying construct measured relates to logical reasoning and problem solving. Developed by chartered occupational psychologists, our logical reasoning tests assess key deduction skills which are essential to the everyday working environment.

  • Why do employers use logical reasoning tests?

Employers use logical reasoning tests as they reveal a candidate's deduction and problem solving skills. Since the ability to solve problems effectively is a universal skill, it's no surprise these are used by employers hiring for a wide range of roles.

  • What is the logical reasoning test format?

Logical reasoning tests include a sequence of shapes and a series of multiple choice questions. Tests are timed to ensure candidates are judged both for quality and speed. The number of questions and the amount of allotted time vary from test to test, but typically candidates will be given about one minute per question.

  • What skills does numerical reasoning test?

The good thing about numerical reasoning tests is you can prepare for them as for the most part, they test similar themes. A solid grounding in fractions, ratios, estimations, percentages, data analysis and graph interpretation should cover you. Practising numerical reasoning tests as often as you can, before you take the one that matters will give you the best possible chance of succeeding in your chosen financial career. It’s always worth taking practice tests in a quiet room and under timed conditions - you want to mimic the test scenario as closely as possible to get used to what the real deal will be like.

Logical Reasoning Tests FAQs

How difficult are the tests?

We have two levels of logical reasoning tests so they can be used for all levels within a company. The foundation level is typically given to more vocational roles, while the advanced level is used more senior and management positions.

How long do the tests last?

The allotted time for the logical reasoning tests vary, but they're typically 15 - 20 minutes long. Likewise, the number of questions will be dependent on the complexity, but as a guide, candidates will be given about one minute per question.

Are these tests available in my plan?

We have a range of plans from starter, right up until custom plans. The difference between the plans is the number of test attempts permitted, not the type of tests. All our plans include our full test suite comprising all tests and all levels.

Can I see what the test is like?

The most important skills it tests are a candidate's deduction and problem solving. On top of these, logical reasoning tests will reveal a candidates ability to focus on key information, to handle pressure and work under time constraints.
